How to Check Your H-1B Lottery Status
Step-by-step guide for FY2027 selection results
Quick answer: Log into my.uscis.gov with the account used to submit your H-1B registration. Navigate to your H-1B registration case. It will show "Selected," "Not Selected," or "Submitted" (pending). Results for FY2027 are expected by March 31, 2026.
Log into your USCIS online account
Go to my.uscis.gov and sign in. If your employer or attorney registered on your behalf, they will check the account used to submit the registration. You may need to ask your employer or attorney to check for you.
Tip: Make sure you are using the correct account. The registration is tied to the account that submitted it, not your personal USCIS account.
Navigate to your H-1B registrations
Once logged in, look for your H-1B electronic registration under your cases or filings. For FY2027, this is the registration submitted during the March 7-24, 2026 period.
Check the selection status
Your registration will show one of these statuses:
"Selected"
Congratulations! Your registration was selected. You are eligible to file an H-1B petition (Form I-129). Your employer has until June 30, 2026 to file.
"Not Selected"
Your registration was not selected in this round. You may be selected in subsequent rounds if USCIS needs to fill remaining slots.
"Submitted"
Results have not yet been released. The lottery has not been run or your results are still pending. Check back.
"Denied / Invalidated"
There was an issue with your registration (duplicate, payment failed, etc.). Contact your employer or attorney.
If selected: next steps
Your employer (or their attorney) must file Form I-129 (H-1B petition) with USCIS between April 1 and June 30, 2026. You should gather your documents now: degree certificates, transcripts, credential evaluations, resume, and any prior immigration documents.
Tip: Do not wait until the last minute to file. Processing times vary, and you want to avoid the June 30 deadline rush.
If not selected: what now?
If you are not selected, your options include: waiting for a possible second selection round (USCIS sometimes runs additional rounds), reapplying next year, exploring alternative visa categories (O-1, L-1, etc.), or pursuing other immigration pathways.
Tip: The lottery is held annually. Many successful H-1B holders were selected after multiple attempts.
Common Issues
I cannot find my registration▾
The registration may be under your employer's or attorney's account, not yours. Ask whoever submitted the registration to check their USCIS online account.
My status still says 'Submitted'▾
USCIS may still be processing results. Not all notifications go out at the same time. Check back in a day or two. If it persists past the announced notification date, contact USCIS.
I was registered by multiple employers▾
Under the beneficiary-centric system, you are entered once regardless of how many employers registered you. Check with each employer to see which registration was selected (if any).
My payment was declined▾
If the $215 registration fee payment failed, your registration may be invalid. Contact your employer or attorney immediately to resolve payment issues or re-register if the window is still open.
Get notified when results drop
We will email you as soon as USCIS releases FY2027 selections.
